I did sell a stone cold mint completely correct (including the pre lockbar sights) 1941 Springfield with British proofs to a gent in Canada for $6k and that was about 5 years ago now. BDL Ltd helped me legally export it.

I honestly dont think the people that bid these rifles up would know what they were looking at though.

Especially with an aftermarket barrel and stock set, the rifle has zero collector's value. It is probably a great shooter, but not $4K great.

Plus there is that "Auction Fever". I can remember seeing it at local estate autions where $10 items were being bid up to 3 and 4 times their worth because one buyer didn't want to let another buyer have it.
