I’m not the only guy here with multiple 19s 🍻
Austrian Gen. 3 19 is the perfect Glock IMO. I only got the Gen. 4 because there were no Gen. 3s available at the time.

Also, I think the US made Glocks just look and feel cheesy compared to their Austrian counterparts.

All that said, any Glock is better than no Glock.

Curious how many folks here ccw with some type of RMR or optic? I know lots of ppl like them but I’m just not there (yet).
I carry a Ruger Max9 with a Crimson Trace optic in my car, but on my person a Glock 42 or the original Ruger lcp in my back pocket. Backed up by an AR pistol with 8 inch barrel. I can shoot the Max9 a lot better than standard sights, but little bulky with the optic for carry. But it's a great little pistol with a fantastic trigger.

The trigger is what I have seen most people bitch about but seems OK to me. I thought it shot great and it takes regular Glock mags. The only thing I don't like so far is the finger bump thing on the front strap. Seems very well made otherwise.

So penetration of .380 and .38 Special almost identical with modern ammo.

.38 Special expands one-tenth inch more than .380

The .380 requires no pocket holster if wearing my usual jeans.

If you move up to 9mm and 4-inch barrel, you gain about SIX INCHES more penetration.

And of course more magazine capacity.

And probably some ability to make an ACCURATE shot at greater distance.

From a self-defense perspective, I don’t weigh the ability to make a long-distance shot high in the utility. I’m running away if at all possible. Distance from the enemy in a handgun fight is your best friend.

Run and zig-zag to concealment and cover.

Pistol is primarily a “GET-OFF-ME” tool.

Draw.

Point.

Shoot.

Run.

And preferably:
RUN BEFORE YOU HAVE TO SHOOT

My order of priority for CCW:

Reliability

Ammunition effectiveness

Concealable

Weight

Ammo Capacity

I have a full-size Glock with fancy modern dot-sight.
VERY accurate for shooting targets in the 10-50 yard range.
Highly unlikely that I’ll be carrying that, and extra ammo to the grocery store in my playpen zone under current social situation.

If things get REAL WEIRD, I can up-gun.
Then, would be avoiding solo travel as much as possible, and probably include rifle and A LOT of ammo.
