To P210 or Not

I've been thinking about a P210a as a range toy for a while now... but I am torn between it or saving up a little bit more for a ww1 luger. What do you guys think? I have an appreciation for finely made firearms with smooth actions and tight tolerances. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

If you wanna shoot it my vote would be for the 210. Putting rounds through a 100 year old gun is always a risk

I've shot a 210 and yes they are nice. I've always wanted a Luger though. I would agree with EOS as far as if you are wanting to burn a lot of ammo and become highly proficient with it.

The new 210's are very nice (~$1250) but I've only handled, not fired.

If you buy the 210 then makes sure you buy all the magazines you could ever need. Sig has a bad habit of doing away with a model and won't make magazines for that model. Fact is if I were to buy a 210 I would buy mags first.

The P210 actually has been around for quite a while (Late 30s, after licensing the Modele 1935). I wonder if the original mag will fit the new pistol

I have a sig 239 that finding a magazine for is very difficult. I ended up buying the new 225 magazines as they lock into the 239 but the baseplate hangs low. If I bought a 210 then I would buy extra magazines right away because with Sig you never know when they will quit making magazines for your gun.

Probably, "get both" is the proper answer to the quandary.

I bought a used US made 210 Target, but almost brand new. Came with box, paperwork and 5 mags. Of course this was before the pandemic, Will shoot it again tomorrow, so far I am very happy with it.

After you get a 210, start saving again and get a Luger. Bucket lists don't expire unless you are dead.

Only what I am told from friends that have owned and have shot both--- fit not as solid, finish not as nice or durable, trigger may be smoother (but you must consider that the triggers on the Swiss-made are decades old), and not as accurate.
Get an HK USP Expert or Elite for a range-only sidearm.

Local shop has a new one thats set on the shelf for a long time, an 8 round magazine in a big gun doesn't sell well at $1,399. Takes a real interested buyer to take it home. Magazines are $50 each and finding a good holster will cost plenty.

The new one I handled has good fit and finish but I wonder about parts being machined or cast. The gun being so rare I would stock up parts in case it broke because nobody will have parts for these. If I planned on shooting it a lot I would have extra everything.

I have both a P210 and a P08 Luger, I'd choose the 210 every single time

I have 2 Swiss P210s. One in 9mm and one in 30 Luger. That are beautiful made and every bit as nice to handle at the reputation. They shoot well but I was expecting a magical experience after reading years of hype. They shoot like nice pistols, no doubt, but it’s not magical. I personally would save for a Swiss made one and not buy the US version.
I also have an HK elite in 9mm. It’s a huge handful for sure. It does not like wimpy ammo, but shoots mil spec great. The fit and finish are good, typical HK but can’t really be directly compared to a 210. They are too different, steel vs polymer.
Anyway get the US one if you like it, but in my case I’m glad I did not as I would just have been left wanting the Swiss one.
