A friend from LA back in the mid to late 1980's bought one of the SPAS 15's as he had advanced notice that it was going to be controlled, he never mentioned it again.

He must have put it away for safe keeping.

Imported a SPAS-15 on a Form 6 from Canada decades ago. Its the magazine feed semi. Was interesting, but didnt seem battle worthy. The SAS-12 semi was much nicer.

Friend had a spas 12 with the j hook. He picked it up broken for cheap. Replaced the broken parts and was scared to shoot it because it might break. He never did shoot it, bit made money when he finally sold it on.
Definitely better off with one of the hk marked benellis.

Had a SPAS15 side folder and aside from the rare and different factor, it was a weird ass gun that looked like some shit a 3 year old would draw if you told them to draw a machine gun and wasn't better than a Saiga shotgun honestly.

Well, if I can help or answer and questions in anyway, let me know. I have an FIE Import from ‘83. I picked up from a coworker about 20 +/- years ago. If your in Northern Az or close to Vegas, I can definitely arrange a fondle it, and if its the right day and time, a take it out and shoot it.

And no, its not for sale. These days as valuable as they are it’s not replaceable(to me at least), plus they are worth more if you part them out to guys trying to keep them running.😂 538B38AA-96DA-4197-B7A4-932CA184433F.jpeg F9B06C11-9757-4C12-8A08-00261149B1F9.jpeg

As others have said… Coolness factor 1000%, actual shootability, meh, 70%.

They are big, not much shorter than a full size L1A1, about 42” extended, and weight is about 91/2 lbs, empty, add 1lbs loaded. 9 rounds of 2 3/4, 10 if ya ghost load it. Oh, and they have to be Max Dram full house shells, so no birdshot or reduced recoil loads to target practice with. Front sight catches on stuff, and the folding stock is about as comfortable as an Uzis, with alot more recoil. The fixed stock is much better, luckily I found one, but it doesn’t look near as cool. Recoil isn’t bad though due to the weight. If you are really good you can get about 7 empties in the air at once, and it will chew a hole through a shipping pallet with one tube full of 00 and #4s mixed.

Bad things, lever safety had a recall, which is no longer available, so I don’t use it, just the slide safety. Buffers, the weakest point of the gun. They used either a little barrel shaped or cyndrilical pyramid shaped buffer at the back of the receiver which only made by 1 person I know of, and not sure he is even doing them anymore. Then there is the stock buffer, which crack with age, again only made by the same guy. Parts and accessories are none existent, unless you are ready to pay through the nose when they pop up.

Again, for coolness factor, off the charts, but a good modern semi auto is way more useful.

I know I shouldn't but I am seriously considering parting with a p7 for one.
They are worth it for this alone… whenever you pull it out, everyone knows what it is, and they get the biggest wicked grin on their face just holding it! And if they get to run a tube full of shells, they have the perma grin for days and will talk about how awesome it was every time they see you.

And sometimes, thats all we need is just something that makes people happy. I don’t shoot it much anymore because as I said, there are much better options out there. But it is a classic in how well it’s known, from the old Arnold movies to Jurassic Park, plus all the Video games, comics, etc.. Everyone knows it, but they never see them up close. plus it has that 80s panache, like a MAC, KG99, etc…

Plus the last 5-6 years, prices have really started going up.
