In the case of my latest build, an aluminum lower and a titanium muzzle device made a world of difference in the balance of the rifle. A titanium gas block would be awesome, but I'm not about to mess with something that works.

I'm unsure of why anyone would want a light fal. My fal is much lighter than my m1a and even my kac sr25 . Google says the m16a4 is .5 lb lighter than the aug. Aug is balanced better. I would think a bush warrior with a cast receiver and standard profile barrel aluminum lower would a better handling rifle than the lightest fal you can build.

A lot of reasons to do it, one is to see how light you can go, another is balance as you said the AUG is balanced better than the AR even tho it weighed more. The best is why not!
