But I've built ten of them for myself, my dad, my brothers, my BIL, etc.

I think I'm done: turns out that they don't fit me very well: I'm 6'5" and they feel short and cramped. I get a fat / cut upper lip sometimes from very minor recoil - just from where the stock hits me.

I'm selling an excellent (like, really, really nice) Bulgarian kit on GB after screwing the pooch over on the AK Files by saying that I had an Arsenal barrel from K-Var. I"m pretty sure that's what I ordered, but it looks like that is NOT what I got. It's been years, so I don't know any better now than I did then, and I didn't know anything back then because all I've ever built is Romy G kits with original barrels and Polish Tantal kits with original barrels.

Is my price realistic, or am I insane?

In my humble opinion, you may be a bit high on your price for not having an original barrel with the kit. Anything 74 was hot ticket awhile back, but that ship sailed with the Russian import ban. Now, with no new 5.45 ammo coming in, prices have been dropping lately on kits. Just my observation. It's your kit.

That's a fair assessment. I've got 30 watchers on GB, but that isn't the same thing as someone hitting the 'bid' button.

I'll let you all know how it goes.

I wonder if I should be selling the 5,000 rounds of 5.45x39 ammo with it...

Well, I took your advice and lowered the price.

We'll see if that works for me or against me... depending on what the 'Watchers' do with it.

Also added the option to auction winner to purchase up to 4 tins (1080 rounds each) of the 7n6 at $0.40 / round - which looks well below market price to me.

That start price is about right if posting in the Akfiles MP with that barrel but could be hard sell being most will prefer to build it with an OG barrel though and you would be better to separate the barrel from the kit.
I would personally offer $1150 for the kit without the barrel if I were to stumble upon your kit in a WTS ad.

Even if you are getting out of the AK platform you know that the 5.45x39 will hold value forever now. We will never see anymore milsurp crates show up again. Certainly not at the prices we paid for them. Excellent log term investment. I keep a few stocked away myself along with crates of M67. Great retirement fund so to speak. As for the potential sale on GB then a spam can or two of "freedom seeds" may help as it's going to be difficult for newbies and others to lock down any crates.

Nice kit and I hope you get your price on it. I'm guessing I have around 500 in this matching # 1990 Bulgarian kit gun with original barrel built on a Nodak receiver with the Russian surplus plum furniture including Russian plum grip from back in the day. IMG_20221027_134755.jpg

I got out of AK’s too.

Nothing major AGAINST them. Just no time to actually shoot them. I think I had six at one point. Used a couple of them to train a group of 200 Marine Corps officers headed to the sandbox in the mid-aughts.

Ended up giving away my last one.

Traded one for a Camaro. Ended up trading the Camaro for a FAL.

Recently bought too much ammo. Or not enough. I guess we’ll see about that.

Yeah - that's where I"m going with this, too. I built a bunch, and they're all runners. I have had a bunch of people at the Oregon and Washington shoots use my AKs for 'battlefield pick-up' stages, and they're all surprised at how accurate and capable they are. Yeah, and built for people 12" shorter than I am.

I don't want a different caliber and rifle system and spare parts as "back-up"... I just want another short-barreled AR with a can under the truck seat and a pile of M193 and 77 gr. SMK handloads in different safes and different locations.

I'll take "the Ukraine was part of Russia in 1982" for $100, Trebek. 😐
That's because you're really, really smart.

You're both right: Voroshilovgrad is in the Luhansk Oblast, in the Ukraine. Which was Russia. Before it wasn't. Before it was. Before it wasn't.
