Intended to be an economy version of the Bren 2, it seems this never made it to serious production because buyers preferred the Bren 2:

CZ 807: The CZ Bren variant that didn't make it

It’s probably just me but I can’t stand the look of any rifle that takes AK style curved mags other than the AK. It’s just wrong. I know looks are totally unimportant when choosing a rifle but I have my go to war guns, everything else is just for fun.
I've already voiced my opinions on the Bren 2 not being as much of an improvement over the 805 as they made it out to be.
It's good that it's lighter, but I don't feel that the reciprocating charging handle lack of a bolt release were that big of an issue.
As to the mags, most collectors have AK and AR mags, adding a new mag to the mix is pretty cost prohibitive. I converted my 805 over to the czech military mags. I think they are the same as g36 mags, but I'm not 100%.
The market probably isn't big enough for 2 rifles so similar.

I like my 805, the charging handle issue is a non issue for me too. I have no idea why guys bitch about it. I’m gonna try & buy the Bren 2 this year only because I want both. I love CZ products.
