I just got all the documentation on it last week.
Took some work, but that's OK as I'm enjoying shooting it.

My guess would be, some newbie saw the USMC provenance, and a low serial number (even though they're decades apart in significance), and started thinking it's been through all sorts of historic Pacific battles. While possible...not likely.
